Daniel Harris Pottery | Gallery | History | done crossed over

The "Done Crossed Over" art show was a project I did in 1995 and received a New Form Regional Initiative Grant. Thirty bottles were thrown, fired, and mashed into a wet slab of clay. Then the pot was buried next to an abandnoed house around the state of Oklahoma. A map of where the pot was burried was mounted inside the slab. It took four years before I had the show at IAO gallery in OKC. The show had photographs of the house where the pot was buried and the slab image of each pot. The idea was that the slab image held the spirit of when the pot was made and the buried bottle was merely a fossil of the process. One could break the slab, take the map, dig up the pot and own the empty hollow vessel.
